Spotlight images question

Did MS change something with the way Spotlight images are handled? I use to be able to access the image files using Winaero so I could save the images in a special directory. Now, even though new images appear on the screen the files don't appear on the PC using Winaero, or via the link

%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets

The only thing that shows up are some older images (dated 2917).

Anyone have any ideas?

That's odd, my %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets folder has images dated as recently as 3 Oct 2019, one of which is my current Spotlight image on the lockscreen (1903, 18362.418).

Is Spotlight regularly changing your images on the lockscreen? If not, you could try resetting it.

Reset and Re-register Windows Spotlight in Windows 10

So far nothing has worked. No new files download and after re-initializing spotlight, Winaero (and other methods)still don't find any new files after 24 hours. I have found a site that seems to post new images as they come out so at least I have a way to get them. The problem did start after the last upgrade (1903).

Since that update, what is actually happening on my machine is that new images appear on the screen as normal but nothing shows up in the

%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets

location.

I used to be able to go there every so often and save the files as .jpg in another location, either through the above link or through WinAero. Now there is nothing there. The new images must be going somewhere but I can't find them.

I tried the Spotlight "reset" tip, but no joy. It just deleted everything in the ....\Assets" folder.

I have noticed that the "Assets" directory is marked "read only" and unseting it does nothing as it immediately returns to "read only."

So far no one has come up with a fix for this.
