Screensaver does not come on

Screen saver and power settings (monitor shutoff and sleep) do not work. The screen saver preview does work. It's as though some device e.g. wireless mouse or keyboard is keeping it awake. I have disconnected both, with no success. These functions worked perfectly on Windows 8.1 prior to upgrade to Windows 10. Is there some app or program peculiar to 10 that is doing this?

Is this issue being addressed in the upcoming service update?

I just installed the latest cumulative update, KB3081438. Apparently, it did not address the screen saver problem. It's probably not very high on Microsoft's priority list with all the other problems being reported.

    Ditto.

For those of you who did an extensive search on this problem: does it tend to happen when using a certain screen saver? For example, I'm using a folder of pics on my One Drive as Photo Gallery. It just occurred to me this might be the issue, but I wanted to see if I had that in common with others who are having the same problem.

I rue the day I upgraded from 8.1.

It happens with all screen savers. I use a photo slideshow from Picasa.

With lots of people having this issue I'm sure MS will address the issue if it is a bug of some kind. Especially considering such a basic feature as the screensaver.
It's now April of 2020, nearly 5 years later. The problem still exists.

Out of curiosity, do you still remain sure that MS will address the issue?

They seem to have. Because I haven't had this issue in a very long time now.

Guess I never should have said what I said back in April because now I'm having the very same issue...again!

I'm guessing it was introduced in Windows Build 2004 which I updated to not long ago.

Maybe it is build related. Screensaver/Power Options work fine here.
    Windows 10 Pro x64 1903 Version 10.0.18362.207.
    Updates are disabled.
