It's indeed related to build and the culprit is having a specific USB device connected. Last time it was a pair of rudder pedals and now it's a joystick.

So seems to be gaming controllers in particular causing this to happen every now and then when a new build is released.

Soon one year later where I'm now on Windows 19042.906 and still having the same issue, how having my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick connected results in the screensaver not starting. Same thing with having the display go off after a certain amount of time. Neither of these options work.

Meaning I have to manually switch my display off to avoid having a static layout on the screen all the time when not actively using the computer. Quite annoying.

Anyone found a cure for this?

In the past, this issue has been resolved after installing some MS fix or upgraded version of Windows. Only to resurface again at a later time...
