In Settings -> Personalization -> Background...my friend using Win 10 Pro has got 'DesktopBackground' under choose albums for your slideshow when background is selected as Slideshow.
The DesktopBackground is missing for me even though I am also using Win 10 Pro. Why so?
What appears under 'Choose albums for your slideshow' is whatever the user last selected as the folder to use. The default when you click the Browse button is your Pictures folder. Your friend probably created their own folder called 'DesktopBackground' and selected that for their slideshow. Mine is currently set for a folder of my own in Pictures called Wallpaper.
Nope, he did not create any folder...I was there when we installed Win 10 in his laptop and that 'DesktopBackground' option appeared on its own..I even clicked a photo of the same to query later in this forum...see below...it was auto changing the desktop wallpapers after set interval..fetching the images online from some site.

That's odd, every clean install I've ever done has had Pictures as the default folder and none of them have a DesktopBackground folder anywhere on the system.
Was your friend's install done with the standard Microsoft install media, such as can be downloaded by the Media Creation Tool? Or was it an OEM install? If it was OEM install media intended for a particular make/model of PC then it may well have been customised by the OEM. OEM's are fond of throwing in their own custom wallpapers, along with a lot of their (often 'bloatware') utilities.
@Bree> I did the installation using standard Microsoft install media (same which I have in one of my laptops) but it didn't prompt to key in any product number and automatically acquired it from MS Digital License server...he got a HP 2-in-1 spectre, so I think you are right with that OEM concept...that DesktopBackground must be specific to the make/model of his laptop and thus absent in other machines. That is as I would expect. Any PC built for Windows 8 or later and supplied by the OEM with Windows pre-installed will have an OEM Windows key embedded in its firmware. This is why you no longer get a CoA sticker with a key on it as you did for Win7 and earlier. Setup would have read this key from the bios and used it to both choose the correct edition (Home or Pro) and (if this is the first time W10 was installed) to obtain activation.
One easy way to identify an OEM install is to open Control Panel > System. It will include an OEM logo and information about Manufacturer, Model, and a website link for the manufacturer's own online support. None of those will appear in a clean install using Microsoft's own media....so I think you are right with that OEM concept...
