Why did Win 10 installer go on to network and put old wallpaper up?

    Hello,

just bought a new laptop, and while installing win 10 updates, i noticed that the wallpaper changed to an old one that i had on my desktop PC a little while back (not present one).

i didnt do anything to wallpaper or any settings (yet) as i'm still in the win 10 update progress, but what's going on here -- why did it do this (i.e. go to another pc on my network and use an old wall paper)?

    thx in advance

    Your Microsoft Account is synced.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...-sync-settings

"When Sync settings is turned on, Windows syncs the settings you choose across all your Windows 10 devices that you've signed in to with your Microsoft account."

Wallpaper is one of the settings that is synced.

super thanks for the fast reply

this is a new laptop, and Win 10 came with it, but i did not receive any serial numbers like i did when i bought my pc desktop (sticker on side of tower).

should i be concerned? or contact support for a serial number? or am i fine since i accidentally synced them? i was thinking i might have to just reset/start over with the new laptop and try to create a new MS account then.

    any/all advice is greatly appreciated.

If you mean product key for Windows 10.... it is permanently stored in the computer's firmware. You can see what it is by running Showkey Plus. Whenever Windows 10 needs the product key, such as a clean install, it will automatically retrieve it from firmware and never even ask you for it.
