Windows 10 [ how to setup a proper pagefile and swapfile.sys ]
Hi people,
I hope this thread is placed by me at the right corner. Feel free, admins, to move it when it is not.
Problem:
If I setup the advanced settings for virtual memory, only for use on my E: drive, (so C: on disabled) Windows do have the oddity to give me the following warning after rebooting windows:
"Windows created a temporary paging file"
Yes I know how I can fix that ... but:
My question:
Can someone tell me how I can setup a proper page and swapfile for my E: drive and disable the one on the C: drive without the annoying "Windows created a temporary paging file" ? I tried powershell scripts, CMD scripts, the original Virtual Memory advanced page in Windows and some valuechanges in the regkey below:
The reg key where all is stored
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
and values:
ExistingPageFiles (reg multi sz)
PagingFiles (reg multi sz)
Summarized:
I want a working E:\pagefile.sys and swapfile.sys and none on C: but Windows do not allow such hence the warning.. It sets each time that temporary on C:\.
Cheers, Geeviz
