    Spotlight fix

I have done all the steps correctly and it stills the same problem one thing noticed is that even the "Picture" option cannot and will not change the picture:
    Windows spotlight not work!!-win-problem-3.jpg

It will just stay with the "Cave" one always, I don't what the hell is messed up, I heard could something with the Group Policies? As I have been receiving this message since the problem with Spotlight shows up too:

    Windows spotlight not work!!-win-5.jpg

TBH all of this seem to have started since I used the program: O&O ShutUp10 -Free antispy tool for Windows 10
I stopped the WinUpdate because it was delivering just updated for Office.

It supposed to activate and deactivate some Windows functions, I used it and then but made a backup before and restore point of the changes the program made, then revert back, but it seems like something was messed up. Does anyone have an idea?

This is a very nice weekend for me! I finally was able to solve all the problems within my Windows including Spotlight!
I ended doing a: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
This worked perfect for me, fixed Spotlight to its core and fixed another WinUpdate issue I was having. I used the "USB" method just to have a bootable USB with Windows for the record.

Now it's looking fine as new! and without losing any of my data and files not even my programs and configuration!
I hope anyone who ended up here trying to solve the issue try this fix I did and get great results as I did.
Also, I should warn people about using "Anti-spy" like "O&O ShutUp10" for me was the one who messed up my Windows.
    Cheers!!!!

Yes, that is a surprisingly painless fix for many obscure problems....

I would second that. 3rd-party 'tweakers' can cause all sorts of 'odd' problems if not used carefully. I avoid them, and have never had any issues. My System One below has been upgraded from its original W7 through every version of W10 from the original release up to the current 1903 without a single problem.

Just to let you know that I realised recently - a bit late admittedly - that upgrade to 1903 from 1809 performed in mid-July has also managed to break this particular functionality for me and Spotlight option in the drop-down menu there - although available - does not want to remain in place and stubbornly reverts back to Picture.

It's quite funny as it looks like that only my account is affected, wife's one works as expected and images change almost on every login/logout.

I will be going though the fixes I spotted in this thread or elsewhere over the weekend - so far my initial attempts (Windows Spotlight is not working & stuck on the same picture) were unsuccessful.

Taking into account my other joy with 1903 ([SOLVED] - Windows 10 - Updates since KB4512508 (Aug CU) end up with 0xe0000100 | Sysnative Forums) I'm not amused.

EDITED TO ADD: Just got it sorted by following this tutorial:

Reset and Re-register Windows Spotlight in Windows 10

And finding out that Point 8 (Privacy settings) seems rather important. I also seem to remember reviewing all privacy settings just after upgrade and disabling them en masse...

Still, from UX design PoV it's quite silly to allow users to use Spotlight when it's bleeding obvious that yet another setting elsewhere will not allow it to work. And which makes all people impacted by this chasing wrong rabbit...

Windows Spotlight was broken, since upgrading to 1903.
I had tried the Reset and Re-register Windows Spotlight in Windows 10 tutorial several times. I even made my own PowerShell script (replica of Shawn's bat file, with a few enhancements), but nothing...

Today I tried, once again (I had already tried it with no success, back in July), a Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade, using the latest 1909 18363.418 iso.
It went smoothly within 35 minutes and hurray.... spotlight is back on!
Things back to normal....until the next time MS breaks it!

A great thanks, again, to Mr. Shawn @Brink. His tutorials, always perform miracles!!!

Hi All – I’m new here so please don’t be to hard on me.

Over several months I spent many hours trying to resolve this problem, trying everything on here and on Google without success, things only got worse, at one stage I considered giving up entirely – was it really worth the hassle trying to fix something which was merely decoration and not essential - but I don’t like to be beaten and it was getting the better of me. Windows Spotlight was working OK on my partners profile (separate login) so I decided to give it another “one last try” using the files & folders from her profile - low & behold – 4 days later - Spotlight started working again on my profile, if anything better than it was before – the wallpaper now changes nearly everyday - don’t know if it will help or work for others – but this is what I did ………..

Created a Macrium Reflex HDD BackUp

    Went to :
    C:\Users\{{{ My Name}}}\AppData\Local\Packages\ Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState

Created a Folder called “Old Stuff”

Cut the entire tree of folders (except “Old Stuff”) from Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState

Pasted the contents into the newly created “Old Stuff” Folder.

    _____________________________________________________________________

    Went to
    C:\Users\{{{ Annie }}}\AppData\Local\Packages\ Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState

Copied the entire tree of folders from Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState

    Pasted the contents into
    C:\Users\{{{ My Name}}}\\AppData\Local\Packages\ Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState

    _____________________________________________________________________

That was approx 6 weeks ago – after a week I deleted the “Old Stuff” folder and all is still OK

    HTH

Well I have to say that I tried every solution that I found in dozens of different sites. Nothing worked for me. Finally I discovered something that made spotlight working again. In Settings -> Time & Language -> Region on the right pane under Regional format I selected Recommended [English (United States)] (because my version of windows is English – United States. For you maybe it’s different) which is located at the top of the list. “Country or region” setting is irrelevant and you can choose whatever you like. Without any other action spotlight started to work. Obviously the selected format didn’t match my preferences which is Greek, so after little research I came up with a new solution which leaves the regional format intact. In Control Panel -> Region select Administrative tab and press Copy settings button. On the new window check 1. “Welcome screen and system accounts” and 2. “New user accounts” so the format matches in all three areas marked with arrow. Press OK button twice and voila: Spotlight is back in life. Just give it some time to download new image.

My PC has the annoying habit of changing from spotlight to picture. I'm wondering if its a syncing issue.
