How do I change and refresh AccentColor via command line?

    Hello,

In my Personalization Settings, I have "Show accent color on" for Start, Taskbar, Action Center, Title bars, and Window borders.

I have a batch file that sets the Accent Color like this:

    Code:
    reg add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM" /v AccentColor /t REG_DWORD /d 4280488424 /f
Upon completion, only the Title bars and Window borders are successfully changed; Start, Task bar, and Action Center remain unchanged. Moreover, the registry shows the change; however, when I go to Personalization Settings, it still has the old color selected as the Accent Color.

I've tried stopping and restarting explorer.exe and dwm.exe but all to no avail.

Any suggestions on how to solve this issue?

    Thanks!

    Hello nuspieds,

If it helps any: Change Accent Color in Windows 10

User color settings for windows are saved in the keys located below in Reigstry Editor (regedit).

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors

    and

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\Colors

The Start menu color for a user is stored in the StartColorMenu and AccentColorMenu DWORDs in the key located below in Registry Editor.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Accent

    Hello, Brink!

    Yes, that did it!!!!

Trust me, you have no idea of how happy I am to fix this issue! Thanks so very, very, very much!

Thanks also for the link to the How-To; after doing some re-searching, I realized what I was doing wrong to miss this tutorial in my search results.

    Once again, many thanks!

Hey sorry to respond in an old thread, but the AccentColorMenu dword is working well for me, but the StartColorMenu one now seem to not work. If I set the color from the personalization gui/menu, that color does get set in startmenucolor, but if I manually change startmenucolor in the registry, nothing happens. I'm on Windows 10, build: 10.0.19043 Build 19043

Do you know if this has been changed since this post and if there's a new way to set accent color on both the start/task bar and windows, still?
