    Windows is changing my folder views

    Is it possible to prevent windows from automatically changing the folder view, especially on usb memory sticks? I'm getting tired of having to change it back again occasionally.

    Hello Cerawy,

    I'm afraid folder views are not remembered for removable media or drives.

    Mine are remembered on the same PC;
    as long as the drive name and letter remain unchanged.

    Hmm, mine are too. I don't think it used to be that way.

    I thought it used to be that as soon as the removable drive/media was disconnected, you lost your folder views.

    I just did a quick test, by adjusting my folder views on my usb memory stick, unplugging it, and connecting it to my computer again. It seems like my folder views are being saved, but im not sure for how long. I still find myself changing the folder views back again sometimes.

    Could the autorun.inf be modified to do this?
    Currently all mine are doing are changing the icon for the drive.

    I just found an option in winaero tweaker called automatic folder type discovery. It says it prevents windows from randomly changing the folder views, so im going to give it a try.

    Usually, setting all folders to use the same folder template like in Option 3 of the tutorial below will disable "Automatic Folder Type Discovery", but I'm not sure if it will help for this. It won't hurt to try though.

    Change Folder Template in Windows 10
