It seems like this problem has come back again, after i have been using ccleaner to clean my computer with. I have had no problems for about 3 weeks, after disabling automatic folder discovery. Also, i did some more testing. It seems like installing ccleaner with ccenhancer, is definitely causing this problem. Specifically, cleaning the folder view settings seems to be causing this problem. I'm not sure if this is the only thing causing it, though.

See last screenshot in this post:

    Latest CCleaner Version Released

It's similar to CCenhancer. If you select volatile entries like shellbags you should get a warning (even in Cccleaner with Ccenhancer). Entires marked by an asterisk are added extras. Avoid cleaning "Shellbags" as it wipes out folder view settings.

I just downloaded the latest version of ccleaner. There's no setting called shellbags. So that's not what's causing this problem.

Shellbags option is only included in CCEnhancer (or winapp2.ini) that you mentioned using.

I don't think that's the case. I checked everything in ccleaner with ccenhancer installed, except the folder view settings, and my folder view settings weren't reset.

So if you clean shellbags (folder view settings) then it will reset all folder view settings to default.

If you don't select that option and folder view settings are retained as you have stated then surely that is what caused the problem. Or am I missing something?

At your own risk follow the steps in this article:

    https://www.askvg.com/how-to-fix-ann...windows-vista/

    Backup registry first.

Also don't forget to increase BagMRU size as per instructions listed under "Important Information For Advanced Users"
