Thanks Wenda, my first was really pretty sad...but I think I'm getting better. :)

Do you have any suggestions or advice? What should I work on?

What do you think of these ones? I consider them my best.

I completely forgot that Mr. Brink already had his other sig, but here's the one I made...

    All advice is welcome. :)

EDIT: Wenda, are you on PC Help Forum?

    No, Chuck, I'm not.

Didn't even know about it, actually. Just went for a quick look, quite a few familiar 'nicks' there...

Those two sigs look pretty good to me. :)

Yeah, it's very similar to this one. I think Mr. John likes using XenoForo over whatever he was using before.

I'll keep on practicing. "Practice makes perfect" :)

You're doing OK, Chuck. And the more you do, the better you'll get.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes, or try something different. No-one here will denigrate or laugh at you for it.

Up until about 15 months ago, I had literally never attempted anything in Photo- Shop previously, apart from touching-up the odd (and sometimes very odd ) photograph. But, after becoming a member of SevenForums and seeing the lovely sigs on display there, I decided to 'have a bash' at designing one for myself. I admit I was terrified to post my first attempt because it was, quite frankly, pathetic.

But they didn't laugh or put me down, instead they proceeded to offer lots of constructive criticism, and a train-load of invaluable advice. I was both pleasantly surprised, and very grateful, which encouraged me to continue, and to try new ideas even when told 'that won't work'.

So, thanks again, guys and gals...

Here, Chuck, have a look at my first-ever attempt at a sig (March 2013), and the one which replaced it. If I'd been laughed-at (I wasn't) or told it was garbage (it is) I'd probably never have bothered to try again.

Now, even if I don't have a specific design in mind, it's a great way of whiling away these cold winter evenings, and I've even done a few sigs on request for other members. It's now at the stage where I've also done sigs for fellow members of other fora and groups of which I'm a member, and several 'real-life' but Photoshop-illiterate friends have commissioned me to design Facebook cover-pics etc for them.

I think I've come a long way in only 14 months, especially when you consider that I'm essentially self-taught. My major problem these days is finding enough keyboard-time to actually get anything done... :arghh:

    Cheers.

    Hi Wenda,

Just a quick Photoshop tip, to avoid having those white corners or backgrounds as shown below:

Always use png image files. If you are googling for, say, "intel i7 logo", include the "png" in your search ("intel i7 logo png" )and you will get png files for download. png files have images floating in the background. When you copy-paste them using rectangular lasso, you will not get any of the background.

Or..... use the magic wand tool to select those white corners or separate image from the white background.

Or maybe you know about this already, so ignore this post. :)

Other that that, your sigs really look great!

Here's one of the coolest wallpaper I created with Photoshop:

I took a picture of my wall and Photoshop did the rest. (Notice: No TV was damaged in the creation of this image. )

    Cheers!

Thanks, Bad, I did end up working that out. That sig was only about the second or third one I'd ever done, so it was still very much a learning-experience.

I did improve, a little, here's my current Sevenforums sig...

    Wenda.

    (Nice wallpaper, BTW!!).

Made this one for myself, but it's to large. I got this forum mixed up with PCHF. Oh, well.

EDIT: I resized it! All good, now. :)

    Thanks, LG.

It's a lot of fun and since I don't have anything to do, 'till next week, I can spend a lot of time on them! :)
