    Been wearing my engineer hat for a few days. Prototyped this layout of a User Control Panel

    You have to enlarge it to see it, otherwise you can stare at a black desktop as long as you desire.

    It's the same size as the Start menu, so no, that's not the entire screen. You can toggle the utility pane to display Live tiles, All apps and Full screen (not shown). The Pin pane and the Utility pane (All apps & Search results) are scrollable.

    Pressing the Run icon changes the test box from search input to Run input (single use - reverts back to search)

    The tiles serve no purpose, so they're absent from the Pin pane. That's about as far as I got.
    It's a bit busy up top due to the User Folders, but it's a layout prototype.
