How do I place a desktop tile on screen in Windows 10

Windows 8.1 had a desktop tile in the start screen. Windows 10 does not appear to have it. Is there a way to get the desktop tile back in windows 10?

I don't think so. If you are on Tablet Mode, clicking the Start button will bring you to Desktop Mode. Desktop tile is unnecessary because Windows 10 is now utilizing the Start button.

You can right click on the Start button and click the bottom item, Desktop.

Hmm. Interesting. Being a keyboarder for the most part I look at and use the WinKey as a toggle between the "Starts" and desktop just as in past OSs. WinKey to open start and another to close. Nothing has changed through the years except if 8.1 is booted to the Start screen. It is only there that the WinKey does nothing, however since the Desktop is treated like an app, once it's "revealed" (it isn't closed like an app, just hidden) with either pressing the Desktop tile on the Start screen or WinKey/D combo only then the WinKey toggles between the two.

BTW, In 8.1 while holding WinKey down then tap period key then tap down arrow then release the WinKey will hide the desktop again.

I can't find a way in 10 to create a tile neither, but since it can be configured to boot to the either desktop or in Tablet mode which boots to Start menu a tile isn't needed IMO. Simply push WinKey for either. It'll toggle.
