I'm trying to give my Windows 10 a uniform white icon design. I have gotten nearly every app white except one: Edge. The simple solution would be to remove it from the taskbar, but I use Edge and I like the look of it on my taskbar, so I am keeping it there.

I found the perfect white Edge icon and tried to apply it through properties on the Edge desktop shortcut. I unpinned and repinned Edge from the taskbar, but it is still blue on the taskbar! Does anyone know what to do here? This is really bothering me.
I hope you have lots of time on your hands!

Here's what you'll need to do...

    Navigate to C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\Assets,

Take Ownership of all the items in that folder, cut all the blue ones from the folder and place them on your Desktop,

now go into the folder again and make copies of all the white ones of the exact same sizes as all the blue ones, exchange the exact names of the white one for the names of the blue ones then put the newly named white ones back in the folder.

    Good Luck!

Hi Edwin, thanks for your comment. I found a similar answer on an old thread but I don't quite understand (or have knowledge of) how exactly to create all new assets. There isn't just one image to change out, there are several. I don't know how to make them all the same size and everything, the naming...I will probably break Edge. Do you have any more information or a step by step guide on how to do this?
Basically, there are 13 blue .png's with replica white ones to their immediate right.
You need to remove the blue ones and rename the replica white ones with the blue ones names...

Here's a vid: (go full screen)

(Also, you can paste the names into Notepad if you wish to keep a list for future reference.
I think there is a difference of one word in the name of the blue ones compared to the white ones. Make a list of both.)

Also: Add Take Ownership to Context Menu in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

    Hope this helps!

Wow. Thank you so much for taking the time to make a video tutorial. A lot of steps to change the icon color but worth it to me.

If I heard you correctly, this will reset every time Edge updates?
No, it will reset with each new Windows Build.
(Create a Restore Point anyway, just in case something goes south on ya!)

Bad news! I tried this method with my 128x128 model icon and it failed. Do I have to go through resizing each icon to be the same size as the ones I'm replacing? You didn't mention this so I'm not sure if I made a mistake here.
If you wish to use a custom image, you're going to have to create/convert up to 13 of your custom images to match the type, size and perhaps bit depth of the existing ones, then merge them.
