Usually wallpapers(like the ones us forum members create) areshown as thumbnails.#
    You need to left click
the thumbnail 2 or 3 times until it is it's full size,
then right click and select "save as".

It's not a matter of anything special in Win 10, more that the sites have got a bit more clever and a good number try to automatically optimise the picture for your screen.

    (Rt click, save as)

There are still some sites fro which you can manually pick resolutions, which may be useful if you're saving them for use on a different screen.

(Manual selection, probably a save button).

    Example:
Collision ❤ 4K HD Desktop Wallpaper for 4K Ultra HD TV • Wide & Ultra Widescreen Displays • Tablet • Smartphone • Mobile Devices

It depends how the site is constructed, rather than on Win 10.

If you haven't done rt click and save as, then I assume it will be wherever your browser is set to save downloads. Look at your browser settings.

Thanks mate my downloads go to File Explorer / Downloads. I would prefer a dedicated Downloads folder but I can live with this set up.

I would expect your browser to let you select a download folder of your choosing. If not, there could be an add-on to do that.
