Hi, interesting.. I've tried that action, and running the task plays a sound (with a sound file of mine in the argument).

However no sound on log off, enter wrong password.

What I did note was that it seems to work after restart, wrong password, but not thereafter. But I have seen it work a couple of times after logging off, just once (that was using sounder.exe)

Event id 2 always seems to be generated on wrong password - except at a lock screen (Windows key + L).

Do you always get a sound on wrong password even if you log off and try a couple of times in succession?

Ok, got it (for now!) working consistently at log on on restart and log on after logoff.

However, as before, the alert sound occurs once after logging on- when the desktop has been displayed.
Clearly that could be overcome with an 'if'

However- on restart, if I enter a wrong password at the earliest opportunity, there is a significant delay until the alert sound.

There is no alert sound when entering an incorrect password
    - logging in after a lock screen (Windows key + L)
    - resuming from sleep (with log on required)

There seems to be no event id 2 in either the lock screen case or resuming from sleep on entering a bad password.

I.e. not a complete solution. I'm not very surprised- do you see the same?
