Windows 10 to look like windows 7
At some time or other I heard that Windows 10 can be easily made to look like windows 7.
I would interested in knowing more about this. Thank you!!

Hi, not easily.. but there are some things you can do. My example- carried on from Win 8:
+ Classic Shell (now Open Shell) free start menu.
That appearance= (roughly)
- icon changes in imageres.dll using 1 free program
- a couple of small registry changes for background colour in on-explorer windows and areas
- Qttabbar (free) for tabs in explorer and explorer related backgrounds (N.B. this is not developed and will be partly incompatible with the coming build of Win 10)
- Aeroglass - frame - with a selected theme for rounded corners. Small cost for licenses for automatic updates.
This also provides an optional thin frame for apps.
I have previously documented this in the Customisation section.
Icons in title bar- Actual Window Manager (not free)

Start menu- classic shell- note the orb button, also the old (Win 7) calculator.
Perhaps an easy why to do this would be to use WindowBlinds if that has a WIndows 7 theme, but of course that costs money.
My boyfriend's laptop is very slow and he turned all the graphics and animations to the minimum and now it looks like Windows 7. I am pretty sure there are some custom made themes that can make 10 look like 7.
This is the software I use to make Windows 7 / 8.1 / Windows 10 somewhat usable:
- ClassicShell 4.2.5 - to fix the Start Menu and Windows (File) Explorer
- KatMouse 7 - to fix the scrolling
- 7+ Taskbar Tweaker 5.5 - to fix the taskbar
Thanks for all the information. That is a lot to digest. I'll get back to you later.
There have been attempts at this- but where themes and UXStyle are involved, you may well find that these only worked on a previous particular build of Win 10. And even if they work now, they could well break in future. There are also risks with these- noted a report that 'this ruined my PC' after one of these.
This is why I chose to avoid using a UXStyle based approach.
So just for info:

- note this one also refers to Aeroglass, which I use. Aeroglass is updated for each build about 2-3 months after a build release.
Aero Glass and transparency for Windows 10
As I have Pro, that's not a problem as I can defer feature updates.

- valid to build 1709. No transparency included.
I will keep this in mind dalchina. On my personal PC I never gone to windows 10. I am NOT a fan of it in any way, but my wife got this laptop and it is whipping my butt.
I have no problems with it- very stable. I just use it more or less as I did Win 7- I just use 2 or 3 apps (News, Money...) and not the start menu which I would find very irritating, as I have many progs installed.
As I have Pro, updates are under control. Home would be much more an issue. And having avoided the upgrade to 1803, I haven't had the problems some have had.
One good thing about Win 10 compared to '7 - to install is one major installation, and 1, perhaps 2 updates typically. (I believe quite recently reinstalling '7 has been made easier).
dalchina that describes my wife's usage also. I on the other hand have lots of apps and use my Win 7 for a multitude of projects. One I use very often is streaming tv programs that I have missed. There are many other uses, but I am not going into those.
