I just want a tabbed, dark explorer without issues

    Any idea if any of the new Windows Insider builds have Sets secretly slid back in that can be enabled through Mach2?

    Or if there's a fork of QTTabBar that works with RS5?

    No. The Mach2 Tool doesn't seem to work at all in 18219.1000!

    Multicommander is a free tabbed dual pane file manager with a lot of customisation options including colours.

    Its appearance is, I think, a rather better than Free commander or Qdir's, although runs the danger of an overly busy GUI.

    Not really my thing. I've tried using those dual-tabbed Commander type programs before and I could just never get used to it.

    Suggest you make your wishes known to Microsoft via the Feedback Hub app. I doubt they will be introducing tabs in file explorer any time soon, though.

    With default Windows Themes it's fine. The only odd thing I found was, I couldn't change the color of the text on the Tabs.

    With Windows Blinds I couldn't use 1039 at all, but it's pretty simple to switch back and forth.
