Windows 10: Windows Classic Look Theme in Windows 10
Windows Classic is not a theme, it is Windows without themes. So, yes, it is included in Win10, but when enabled it will not affect the taskbar and Metro apps. For more info, explore this forum: Home | WinClassic
Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I'm wondering whether there's any way to disable all the fancy GUI features and return to a pre-7 GUI, a pre Aero, I guess its called, GUI.
Unlike you guys, I'm not specifically interested in the classic theme (tho I actually would like that), but rather I'm interested in saving resources, so any more pedestrian GUI without all the bells and whistles would do for me.
Is that possible to do?
Go to Control panel > System > Advanced system settings. Here you can select 'Adjust for best performance' which will turn off all animations. The layout won't look much different, but everything will open much quicker.
It is unclear what you want. You can enable Classic theme. You can also disable DWM if you wish. What exactly you mean under bells and whistles?
Thanks! This is part of what I was looking for.
It's kind of unclear to me, too What I'm looking to do is to remove from the GUI anything that might be taking up a lot of resources, if it can be removed.
I remember reading that the Aero GUI in Win7 took up like a GB of memory. So I'm looking to change anything of that sort to a more standard Win XP or earlier GUI.
No, Aero does not take gigabyte.
But it does require more resources than a pedestrian pre Win7 interface. So I'm wondering if there's anything of that sort that I can turn off in Win10. For ex. like the previews of windows when you hover over them on the start bar, transparent start bar and start menu, stuff like that.
How to Add or Remove 'Personalize (classic)' context menu in Windows 10
Personalization includes your account's theme settings, desktop background, change text size of items, color and appearance, sounds, screen saver, desktop icon settings,...
Lovers of Spider solitaire, Hearts etc from W7 work just fine on W10. Just re-install.
