Some of those settings are on, some are off and some may be disabled...

The ones that are on will be colored, by default in blue. You can choose the Accent color in Settings > Personalize > Colors. Edwin has changed his to 'Storm' but if you look carefully at his Wi-Fi tile you'll see it's a dark brown showing that it is on.

What is the use for the add a desktop thing.
If you open another application you get another windows anyway so why open a copy of the desktop?
I just don't get how you are supposed to use it.
