inquiry about removing a hard to find intel control panel entry

so im trying to remove Intel® Product Improvement Program (32-bit) from my control panel.

    Seriously intel?! Seriously!?

Low and behold, no .cpl in the system32 folder. Also tried copy/pasting the name into group policy editor with and without the fancy schmancy little ® with no bueno.

Any ideas how i can track down and eradicate this pointless and imposing entry? I tried opting out. Tried opting in. Doesnt matter. Just stays there cluttering up my control panel.

    Hello Klepp,

Control Panel items are located in the registry key below. Each GUID subkey under NameSpace is an item in the Control Panel. One of these should be for this Intel item.

If you like, export the key below as a .reg file and upload it here. I'll be happy to also take a look to see if I may be able to spot it for you, and post back with a .reg file to remove it.

I don't see the entry there for the main Control Panel homepage.

Is this supposed to be an uninstall entry in "Programs and Features" instead?

Just uninstall the Intel computer improvement program application. It is only Intel's usage tracking facility so you won't miss having it.

@brink yes it’s on the main control panels home page. (Large icon page not category view)

@Try3, lord knows I didn’t install anything of the sort but if it’s bundled with XTU or the intel graphics drivers (I use quick sync so had to enable the igpu) then that will obviously be the path of least resistance.

Could have swore I looked already. Still - I’ll look again after I finish my coffee and report back :)

no bueno, not in add/remove programs nor in ccleaners add/remove programs list.

Any other suggestions? I think it may have snuck in when I installed Intel XTU if that helps?

It arrived on mine when I installed the Intel DSA [driver & support assistant] without bothering to check the installation options but it left an entry in Control panel, Progs & features so I was able to uninstall it.

I have no other ideas about getting rid of it, I'm afraid.

Did you install the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant? It seems to tag along if an option box is checked.

If you uninstall the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant, it may go away.

If all that fails, try Revo Uninstaller. You can get the free, or a 30 day trial of the Pro, which allows forced uninstall..... app, registry, bits and pieces, all. It works very well.
