I've noticed that my screensaver comes on, but it blanks the screen first. I kind of liked the bubbles bouncing on top of my wallpaper and open programs. Funny that when you test the settings, it works as before. Seen this same behavior on 4 Lenovos (1 Desktop 3 laptops). I wonder if my HP DT is the same? Time to experiment.

I'm still working on getting the screen saver to work on my arcade cabinet, but I figured out the culprit on my desktop, which I will share in the hope that it might help others.

Within Device Manager under Human Interface Devices, there are 3 different entries for my Razer Nostromo. One is called "Nostromo Input Device", then there are two labeled "Razer Nostromo". I disabled the second instance of "Razer Nostromo" and the screen saver started working. I rebooted and the delay time for the screen saver stayed the same as I had set it and the screen saver still worked fine. As a bonus, the Nostromo also still works fine.

Also, I found that I had to disable, rather than uninstall, the trouble maker device. If I uninstall it, it reinstalls after a reboot.

So for those of you who haven't tried disabling devices with Human Interface Devices, it might be worth your time...

Yessss this did it for me, thanks a lot! It was one of the HID-Gamecontroller... after disabeling the screens go off after the time set. I hope this workaround still work after a reboot.

I'm glad I could be of some help. Sadly, I discovered that there are two USB devices on my arcade cabinet that are interfering with my screen saver -- and they are the two joysticks. I'll have to see if there is some sort of 3rd party utility that allows me to create a bigger "dead zone" around the center of the sticks and see of that fixes the issue (pending a real fix by Microsoft).

The real strange part on this is that I don't actually have any joystik connected. I had on win8.1 (I migrated - no clean install) a Saitek Cyborg, and a 3dconnexion Space Mouse connected but since migration I haven't used them, so on my machine it can not be the jitter. Needless to say that on 8.1 everything was working fine.

I have adjustable dead zones for all analog controls for the X45, but the system still sees the values change. I fear that Microsoft simply decided that joysticks and game controllers were included in the same check and keyboard and mouse devices. For example, if you have a key being held, sending repeating data, it does the same as what these analog joysticks are doing. Same goes for a mouse that is seeing phantom movement (like and optical mouse that isn't sitting on a flat surface). So, the dead zone you would need to create would have to be in the controller. It might be easier to have some sort of app/script to disable/enable the issue devices as needed.

Edited for adding a link which may be useful: Enable/disable Windows 7 device via command line - Super User

    Screensaver is Finally Working.

Following several suggestions in this and other threads on this subject, I went into Settings/Device Manager and disabled seven drivers labeled "HID Compliant..........." The screen saver now comes on at the correct time. I haven't checked sleep mode or display shutoff yet, but strongly suspect they will also work as programmed. I previously tried uninstalling the drivers, but they re-installed every time I rebooted.

Thanks to everyone who worked this problem.:):)

(Later) The display shutoff also works.

Update: I went back and enabled the HID drivers one at a time. The one that was keeping the screensaver from coming on was the "HID Compliant Whiteboard" The other six have been re-enabled and are not interfering with the screen saver operation.

    Make rather than faults...

Still not sure why there are so many theories regarding what will rectify a whole range of problems - inclucing Screen Savers...

I have come across a situation within the past two days, where a Samsung laptop was playing up in all sorts of ways after the Win 10 upgrade...

However, technical advice suggested that win 10 was not compatible with machinery of that make... A switch back to Win 8.1 solved all the problems...

Might it be (in more cases than one) that there are compatibility problems for more than the one machine mentioned, with different components failing to work as they should, dependent on make, rather than there being an actual problem with the operating system???

    Hope you get my drift...

Not helpful. Insulting, even. Please keep your personal opinions (which are actually quite wrong) to yourself. The rest of us are being helpful with this known issue (among many others) in the rushed out product called Windows 10. It simply is not an incompatible hardware issue.

    Hey Guys,

I know screensavers are not necessary, I have 100 000 photos, and I like nothing better than the screensaver
to come on after a while to enjoy these photos at random with a cup of coffee. So although definitely not
necessary, still serves a purpose !

Still seems to me the triggers with prevent the screensaver from starting on 10 seem to be vastly different
from previous version of Windows, I'm still struggling with mine....I'll bet if Microsoft looked thru their code
they'd be able to remedy this issue...

Anyway have a good weekend !!
