Cortana Fixed, but Screensaver still sets to 1 minute.

I just downloaded the latest (8/27) updates. It looks like Cortana has stopped forgetting my name every time I reboot (like Ellen DeGeneres in 'Finding Nemo'), but the screen saver continues to reset to one minute and fails to come on whenever I shut down and restart the computer. Does anyone have an idea how to correct this minor but annoying problem?

I had the same issue and in my case Screen Saver was resetting to none (no Screen Saver) and monitor was active all the time.
To fix I found that culprit is Microsoft driver that comes with "Xbox 360 controller for PC" and located in "Device manager" -> "Human interface devices".
Solution was: disconnect controller or disable specific device in "Human interface devices". Both works. Though if I keep using Xbox 360 controller - Screensaver issue comes back. So simply I don't use it for now.

In your case you may need to disable specific device in "Human interface devices". It is a temporal fix till Microsoft will do something about it.

It's nice to know your opinion, but a lot of us like our screen savers. Although the original reason for implementing a screen saver was to protect the screen from burn-in, those days are long past. I'm sure that many users don't even remember the days of CRT monitors.

Sometimes I like to come back from a meal and see an interesting animation running on my monitor. Other times, I like to watch something on my TV in a dark room while my computer runs something that takes a long time with a blank screen.

Regarding running unnecessary things and wasting resources on a computer... Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
There are more issue to be concerned with besides a screen saver. I have a shortcut to put my PC to sleep and it requires a PW to gain access. That is my opinion on Screen savers. They just are not needed. I repeat this is just my opinion, if you want to have one that is your right.

You've pointed that out several times now, just let them try and fix their screensaver.

I have narrowed my problem down to a Kensington pockethub 7 port universal hub. Once I disconnected it I now have a Screensaver and my monitors turn off like they should. I am thinking that a newer hub may be the fix for me?

A newer hub may be the fix ? Not necessary. Newer hub may not solve this issue. People are having this issue when mice and keyboard only connected to PC. Let Microsoft fix Screensaver problem.

The issue also includes no auto screen lock or display standby if a joystick or game pad is plugged in.

So while the screensaver is a vanity issue I'm sure you will agree the saving power with display standby and auto lock for security are worthwhile things.

I'm having the same problem and none of the suggested workarounds I've seen online work. My screen saver won't keep any setting other than 2 minutes. And - even though I set Power Options *not* to prompt for a password on wakeup - it prompts for a password on wakeup

I like Windows 10 - it's a vast improvement on Windows 8.1, which I had previously - but Microsoft needs to fix this bug. It's driving me n.u.t.s.

Have same issue with a DELL XPS 9000, 24GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro, ASUS HD6450 Graphics Card with latest AMD Radeon Drivers, DELL U2413 Monitor connected via a DVI-D cable. The computer has a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse.

The wife has a DELL XPS 8500, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro, AMD Radeon HD7700 Graphic Card with the latest AMD Radeon Drives, DELL U2312HM Monitor connected via a DisplayPort Cable. The computer has a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse. On her computer the screensaver and power saving option work, however about every two weeks the screen resolution will revert to 640 x 480 and the only way to recover is to unplug the DisplyPort cable from the AMD Radeon HD7700 graphic card.

Both computers work fine with the screen saver a power options prior to the upgrade to Windows 10. The DELL XPS 9000 was updated from Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit and the graphics card was updated from a AMD Radeon HD4870 to a HD6450. The DELL XPS 8500 was updated from Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro.

    Still looking for a resolution.

I've noticed something. If I set my screensaver to x number of minutes, it won't change for approximately 24 hours, after which it just shifts back to one minute.

I hope Microsoft is reading this thread because now, more than ever, I am pretty sure this is a silly, annoying bug.
