    I find just right-clicking the desktop then clicking Next desktop background [2 clicks] to be just about as quick as clicking an icon. Desktop icons require 2 clicks to open versus a shortcut pinned to the Taskbar needing only one click to open something.

    I don’t want a shortcut on the desktop
    When “right clicking” I would like to add a icon in the context menu for next desktop background

    I see, seems my Notebook has that in the context menu of the desktop but my Desktop computer doesn't, both using the Home version of Win10, possibly because of different video adapters/cards.

    Edit: checked a second Notebook and it has the entry but a second Desktop does not, again different video adapters/cards. All 4 computers have the same Version and Build.

    Just a guess..... That shows up as an option if you have slideshow enabled. You can also do a right-click on DT and hit the letter N for next one.

    If I set the desktop background to Slideshow I have 'next desktop background' in the context menu when I right-click on the desktop, if I set it to anything else I don't. That context menu item is only relevant if you have a Slideshow.

    Guys I think he means like @Brink has for the classic personalize reg merge, or how 3rd party apps also have icons.

    I suspect you need to set it icon address in reg edit.

    Like this:

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\Shell\Personalization\shell\001flyout]
    "MUIVerb"="Theme Settings"
    "ControlPanelName"="Microsoft.Personalization"
    "Icon"="themecpl.dll"

    Maybe it need an entry here: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DesktopBackground\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\DesktopSlideshow

    "Icon"="imageres.dll,-110"
