How to stop previews when hovering over a taskbar button?

    .
After last night's Win update, I now have version 1803.

This has broken my Taskbar Tweaker. Therefore, when I hover the mouse over a button, there's now a popup preview.

How can I stop the preview?

    Thanks.

I am only aware of a method for changing the size of the preview, I am not sure that you can make it stop. You could trying setting the size to 0 but I do not know if this works.

You can try this. [Winkey+R] then type sysdm.cpl then press Enter.

Advanced Tab > Performance > Settings > Visual Effects Tab

Note current settings or take a screenshot of them.

    Experiment with these settings:

    Hi @philc43. Thanks for suggestion.

I tried various sizes. I can increase the height of the preview, but any decrease hits a minimum - even when a value of "0" is specified.

    Hi @Callender. Thanks for suggestion.

My options are your two options, plus "Show window contents while dragging".

Disabling that option gives an empty rectangle while dragging.

I'm not a techie, but I'm assuming it's a registry entry, because Taskbar Tweaker can do it. But TT is broken after each minor update.

I read somewhere that M$ are trying to break as many as possible of these third-party apps at each update. Maybe it's time the EU started to impose huge fines on them again. As they did for Windows Explorer.

Try uninstalling then reinstalling the taskbar tweaker software.

Thanks. That was one of the first things that I tried. I got the standard "Could not load library (104)" error message that's produced after every Windows update. See the developer's blog:

    Thanks for your help.

    Hell OldGrantonian, :)

You should be able to change the ExtendedUIHoverTime DWORD value in the tutorial below to a very high time (ex: "10000") to effectively disable taskbar thumbnail previews.

    Hi Shawn :),

You're not often wrong - but you're right again.

    That worked fine. Thanks.
