After last night's Win 10 update, I now have version 1803.
This has broken my Taskbar Tweaker. Therefore, when I drag a button, all other buttons of the same program are now dragged so that they remain stuck together. For example, three Chrome buttons.
How can I "unstick" these buttons, so that I can drag them independently?

It sounds as if you have the taskbar buttons set to be always combined. You need to change the setting to Never Combine.

@philc43, the first screenshot in your linked tutorial shows what is meant by grouping/combining.
Look at the "e" button that has the slipping halo. There are two buttons in the lower part of the screenshot, but only one button in the upper part.
That's because the two buttons have been grouped/combined to form a single button.
If you now hover over that single button, two previews are shown - one above the other. So, you can select whichever preview you want to open. The purpose is to save space on the taskbar.
What I want to do is different. If there are two (or more) buttons of the same type, I want to be able to drag them independently. This allows me to match one button to one program, a second button to a second program, and so on. So, I want my icons to be grouped by "task" rather than by "appearance".

I'm not sure that that can be done with W10 at the moment. There is a new feature called "sets" coming in the next version of Windows which the Insiders are evaluating at the moment. This allows you to group programs and apps together in tabs within a single window, thereby allowing you to keep all apps required for a particular task together. At the moment the taskbar icons for these tasks have not been grouped together so there is more work to be done!
You're probably right, but I'm sure it could be done in XP, and Win 7 (and maybe even Win 97).
Each time MS make a change to justify the cost of an upgrade, it really screws up elderly people who are simply trying to do things the "usual" way. The open-source guys might make changes as "defaults", but there would be a battery of options behind the scenes that would allow users to choose between "new" and "old" implementations. That allows younger members of the family to set things up the way the oldies prefer them. We shouldn't need to rely on tools such Classic Shell and Taskbar Tweaker.
Time for a move to Linux (AKA "simple").
