How do you create an animated / cartoonish looking user profile pic

How do you create the cartoonish looking profle pics you see in chat forums etc?

I assume you paste a pic of yourself to a program and then it creates one for you but I have not found it.

    Something like these.......

I did.......but the ones I found taught me how to use msft paint and other common products to select an animated head, select a hair color etc........it was more like a drawing than a realistic representation.

I probably was not clear enough but I am looking for a program where you submit a 'selfie' and insert it into a program and it returns a realistic looking, colorized portrait. I wish I could be more specific but I don't know if there is a name for what I am looking to do.

I have found services online that will do them for $20 +/- , but I would like to do it myself.

It would be a chance to learn something new, a modest sense of accomplishment.

    I want something like this:

    or this.......

The programs I have found on youtube don't give me the results I am looking for.

    Thanks!

    Google cartoonizer

Animated avatars for this forum should be an animated gif - you can Google that too, or you could download the Microsoft Gif Animator (circa 1996) that I still use today in Windows 10. A link to an Internet Archive copy of it is in the References section here...
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_GIF_Animator

With a sequence of separate .gif images, a gif animator stitches them together as one file, each image being displayed for it's own individually controllable time. You can set it as 'play once through' or 'loop forever'.

I've already checked out one of the (many) online cartoonizers. I'm pretty sure your 'Jake Vig' used one of them.

If you need to resize a GIF, this is a easy one to use.
It works online so nothing to install, plus its free to use.
