Maximus X Code MB with Phanteks Enthoo Primo Fan Controller

I'm wondering if any system builders are using the Phanteks Enthroo Primo series fan controller with the Maximus X Code motherboard.

I connected the Phanteks Fan Controller to CPU_OPT header but that header does not appear in BIOS. As such I cannot set to PMW. I would like to move connection to another header within reach of the connector, one of the CHA_Fanx headers.

That said the Phanteks instruction state that headers other than the CPU_Fan may not have true PWM, rather they control by voltage. If this is the case then you are not to connect the 12V power lead as this will cause fans to run at 100%.

My Air cooler is using the CPU_Fan header.

    1) Does anyone know if the CHA_Fanx headers are true PWM or are they voltage regulated? If not are any of the other headers like AIO_Pump true PWM

    Thanks

    Ken

I have an older [year ago] business class ASUS computer and was curious. Looking at this about 1/3rd to 1/2 down shows several fan connectors [5], click on the fan symbol to show where they are.

There's a note in a box just under that about PWM/DC control. Further down is this:
With Maximus X Code you have comprehensive control over fans, water pumps and even all-in-one (AIO) coolers, via either Fan Expert 4 or our award-winning UEFI. Whether you're cooling with air or water, Auto-Tuning mode intelligently configures all parameters with a single click. There's also an Extreme Quiet mode, which reduces all fan speeds to below the default minimum — keeping your system whisper-quiet when performing light tasks.
Probably do all the controlling within the program ASUS provides rather than directly in the BIOS, most of the settings on mine do that.

I have an ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero motherboard. I'm not a gamer but the board works well for my recording studio. I control (set parameters) for the case fans from the ASUS BIOS. I have a liquid cooler for the CPU and have the pump connected to the water pump power connector. My CPU idles at 30C and rarely gets about 40C under recording program load.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. Two answers and two points of view to consider.

Not enough specific fan headers on board to supply five case fans unless I use splitter, which came with fan controller. Using the headers would give me finer control over individual fans so that is a plus.

Still interested if any knows if Asus is using true PWM on headers of voltage regulation. I should give the Asus forum a shot as well.

Thanks again for taking time to answer.
