    Linux lite

I don't know where to post this as there is no OS thread topic.

OK....I got linux lite on a USB drive, using it as a live media. That said....I would like to install it on the USB drive permanently so I can install all my proper drivers and software.

OP is not asking how to run Linux from flash drive, but how to make it persistent i.e, settings are remembered.

This facility does not exist with all distros. I doubt a lite one has it (@Jimbo - this is more your territory - perhaps you can comment)

Completely correct cereberus. Just my luck....I actually find a distro I like and no bueno. I did find some links to "persistent" but sadly no clear cut steps on how to accomplish it. All I've ever done with a distro is use it live....either DVD or USB.

So I said to myself what the hell, and .... this is a big AND.....I said lets just wing it. Boy that was a mistake. I ended up hitting install at one point and once I realized what I did (only mere seconds)....I forced stop the procedure. It's a long story. But the damage had been done. My time stamp was messed up along with some other system files.

So I decide to just do a clean install with my MCT USB....well apperantly that was messed up as well. 3 attempts and still couldn't my install to work. Thankfully I had and old ISO (1609) on a DVD. Went with that and finally got it all updated and running and then said what the hell one more time....made a new ISO (1709) on a DVD and did a new clean install. So the last 24 hours has been a real hoot and lesson learned. I'll stick with the live format. So what did we learn.....As Gunny Highway was asked....."what's your assessment" and the reply of all times...."It's a cluster F$#%"

All is well now...completely reinstalled, Office reinstalled, all software installed....time for some sleep....24 plus hours is enough.

I would have used my Macrium Reflect Free image backupwhich I would have taken just before effing around rather than "winging it" recovering my PC in less than 30 minutes!
