Good morning everyone. Probably no one missed me, but I was up to my eyeballs in concrete work yesterday and by the time we got through, even my eyeballs were hurting, so I never made it online.

Somebody gotta tell this old gray mare she ain't what she used to be . . . 'specially when it comes to concrete work! But . . . we got 'er done! All except for a small length that'll take one more 80 lb bag of concrete. Whew! One more bag to mix and that part will be finished! It rained last night, so we won't buy more concrete until Monday.

The door to the house, top of the gate and some hardware cloth over ventilation holes and the chickies can move in. I have their feed buckets and water buckets ready to go in; feed and grain are in the garage and rice straw is in the chicken house ready to be spread.

Gracie tried the pen out and said it seems to be escape proof! And that little escape artist should know!

I think this chicken establishment will probably be the last major project for us . . . we're ready to do some sight seeing; we especially want to get some pictures of fall foliage, if any of it turned like it usually does . . . not here, though.

Why, yes, Ken, it has. Gracie has inspected it and found it to be escape proof. And as I said before, that little escape artist knows escape proof when she finds it. :)

You likely don't follow the Ontario Canada news feeds but backyard chickens is a big time political issue. They are lined up on both sides of issue. Toronto is the fourth largest city in North America with some pretty good density and people want the right to have chicken coops. They are even arguing numbers, last I heard it was four to family. If they do allow chickens no roosters allowed.

Now Toronto has pretty good weather but we go sub zero for four or five days in a row.

Same issue in the town I live in and I shouldn't be telling you this but I voted no. My backyard is the size of a postage stamp. You want eggs you drive five minutes and get them fresh from the farms.

I do like fresh eggs since I was turned on to them. Some days the farmers go out and fill the carton while we wait. They are good eggs.
