Went to an interesting laundromat yesterday.
Instead of using the quarter system, they have a card system, you get a plastic credit style card, load it with cash (either using cash or your credit card) & you use that to run the machines.
Now here is where the beauty of this operation comes into play. Instead of charging the usual 25 cents or using quarters, they have odd amounts of payments. it was $6.18 to run the big washer, & it's 40 cents for 8 mins on the dryer.
So I thought about it & this is designed to keep you coming back. By not having an even amount to use the items (say $6.25 for the washer or 25 cents for 8 mins) you always have some money that ends up being left on your card. Thereby insuring you'll come back to use up the rest or adding more $$$ so you won't waste whatever is left on the card (mine has 32 cents left on it, can't use anything for that amount of money)
Oh yeah, & the machine that put's the credit on the cards does not take coins, only bills (or credit card in even dollar payments)
The times they are a changing.
