Here is a silly powershell script I found on web. It checks the media creation tool header every 10 seconds and tells you when it changes (from 10563 to 16299),it to download the updated media creation tool!
Obviously, it will use cpu and bandwidth but for those desperate to know when 16299 mct is available. Obviously use at your own risk.
Add-Type -AssemblyName System.Windows.Forms
$OriginalETag = (Invoke-WebRequest -Method Head MSN.com - Hotmail, Outlook, Skype, Bing, Latest News, Photos Videos
while ($true) {
$ETag = (Invoke-WebRequest -Method Head MSN.com - Hotmail, Outlook, Skype, Bing, Latest News, Photos Videos
if ($ETag -eq $OriginalETag) {Start-Sleep 10}
else{
Invoke-WebRequest "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209" -OutFile "$env:TEMP\mct.exe"
[console]::beep(900,400)
[console]::beep(1000,400)
[console]::beep(800,400)
[console]::beep(400,400)
[console]::beep(600,1600)
[System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox]::Show("Update now by launching $env:TEMP\mct.exe !","Fall Creators Update released!",0)
exit
}
}
Sure, I think not many bookies would give you a good price on that bet :-D.
I only posted that for fun really (that is why I posted here not in main threads) as I like such scripts, as you can modify them for other purposes of course.
Anyway, personally, I don't care as I am on 16299.19 across all devices but my Linx 8 tablet which has a (well reported) major issue with 16299 i.e. touchscreen does not work unless power supply is plugged in (and I got that issue to). I have reported it to Exertis, and they came back saying engineers are looking into it, but I will not hold my breath!
