Good Morning beeman
With regards to drivers what I would like, ( No let's make that expect and demand ), is a system that when a hardware manufacturer ( OEM), updates and release a new, updated/Modified Hardware driver to the wild, that they also supply it to Microsoft who can then replace the outdated one, held in Microsoft Windows Update Servers, that the hardware manufacturer supplied previously.
Obviously I do not know where the the fault with the present system lies, maybe the OEMs are not providing the new drivers to MS in a timely manner, or maybe they are, and MS are not making the changes quick enough, (does MS still check new drivers for compatibility with a range of hardware as is done for initial "Windows Compatible" certification?), I think we all have experiences that suggest that this is not done properly even by the OEM.
Of course a little communication between MS and the OEMs would ease the issues we see as, MS could remove superseded drivers from the Update servers when the OEM releases an update, and add the new one in when the checks have been made
I know this procedure would add a delay to the release of New updated drivers as the Due diligence is applied, but the major PITA that we have now with older drivers replacing newer is far worse,
Well Keith just found another driver issue in device manager, guess I missed it earlier, my Corsair HydroSeries H100i v2 had a driver that Windows was saying was not a verified driver, and needed to be updated. Had the ! point next to it I had a backup folder for all my drivers that I made before this Fall update. :) Told Windows where to look, it found the right driver, then reinstalled the driver, and now Windows is Happy again .....Grrrrrrrrr Been a fun Morning so far. LoL
Good Morning Beeman with the needed rain ......we could use some rain here too, which we should get Tuesday into Wednesday. :)
Good morning/afternoon, guys. Happy Sunday.

I had to replace the volsnap.sys driver to an older one for my secondary Samsung spinner to work without GSODs. It's not just limited to USBs. This driver is a system driver, so it's MS's fault. I suspect if we get a generic MS driver either the OEM didn't have one ready or just aren't servicing the product anymore. But as you say, Nigel, who knows what goes on in driver land.
