    Good morning all.

I hope they find out what's wrong with your Wife, Borg.

Simrick, maybe you should have an Insider Preview Party for your grapes. I hear Insiders are pretty good at ferreting out bugs.

    Build 16291 installed nicely.

And now I'm off for a few hours.
Thanks Wynona & have a good day.

And the pre-auth thing, some types of plans (there are PPO's MMO's EPO's, etc....) require you to get authorization for anything like a CT or an MRI or similar procedures. If you just go get it done without one if your plan so specifies, then you're on the hook for the full amount.

Pre-auth is done by a company that employs a bunch of docs that go over your medical history, symptoms at present, the doctors notes on you & decide if this procedure is worth the insurance paying for it. If they deny it, you can appeal, but that's a long process.

I'm guessing over in the UK you have none of this nonsense?

Well, you go to the doc or the hospital, show your insurance card, you usually have a deductible for whatever doctor you visit, specialist for us is $30, General doc $20. Then they turn in the bill, the insurance has a set amount of money via contract they pay to the provider which they have to accept, & then you pay whatever percentage you're responsible for.

For instance, the hospital might ask $500 for a service, the insurance pays a negotiated amount about 40% + lower then the $500. Then they determine though a formula how much you're responsible for, the leftover amount you usually have to pay 20% of that.
Morning Borg. And they call it insurance??

I had fun playing with it although the problem turned out to be VirtualBox rather than W10. I couldn't run anything that required elevated privileges.

I'm not sure on the semantics of how it works, but, if you fall below a certain income level the govt will reimburse you to a point & help you pay your monthly insurance.

A lot of the insurance providers have pulled out of the market because they are loosing money on this deal. So in whatever area you live, you have to choose an insurance that services that area. If they leave, you either have to go with the last remaining one (if there is one) & pay high premiums or go without.

The hospitals can't refuse you by law for lack of insurance, but the doctors can unless you have a guarantor paper which shows you have a good size bank acct to cover any debts from the doctors office.
