Good afternoon all. We're back from the morning heart doc visit. Wow, was that one enlightening!
When we first came here, we needed to set up a whole batch of new doctors, including a GP (both), heart doc (Johnny), urologist (Johnny) dermatologist (me). So, Johnny's had a number of tests, including a stress test, a heart monitor and the sleep study for tonight.
The heart doc that set these tests up, left the Heart Group practice, so we got a letter informing us and basically giving us a choice of staying with the "practice" or following the doc to his new digs. Neither of us were impressed with him, so we elected to stay with the "practice".
Today, after looking over all the records, Dr. Hatch said that it looked like the former doc was making a case that Johnny needs a pacemaker. Do what? A little bit of a sticky situation there, because we didn't want to come out and say we didn't care for the first doc and he, of course, didn't want to say anything bad about a fellow doctor. So, being me, I took the bull by the horns and asked him why the other doc would go that route, when we were just establishing a new set of doctors in our new hometown.
Dr. Hatch said, "Probably because that's what his specialty is." I then asked him what he thought, and he said from all the records, the only thing he wants to change is up the dosage of Diovan, that a pacemaker isn't anywhere close to the horizon as far as he's concerned.
I am just a bit torqued that we have had to endure all those tests which cost Medicare and us a bunch of money just because a greedy doctor wanted to feather his nest at our expense.
So, then I asked about the sleep study for tonight. Doc said go ahead with it, but if the sleep doc wanted to prescribe any type of device, to tell him to discuss it with Dr. Hatch.
Ya know, sometimes it's hard to trust anyone, especially doctors. Then along comes a Dr. Hatch and renews my faith.
