We've done a lot of camping over the years and my husband always just had an aluminum boat with motor. We switched to a canoe some time back with a small motor, it's made of kevlar. Since we got a slide in popup camper, we haven't really been using it much, it hangs from the rafters in our garage.
We always liked to do some fishing in our boats on lakes either in the US or Canada.....good times.
Hi Bigfoot!,
It's good to have something compact and versatile, because it's much easier in and out of a slip and they can basically run right up to almost anywhere. Gives you *That Awesome View*.
Most Medium/Large, boats can not do that, it's the trade off when you have a bigger boat; it's harder to get into/out of a slip, You get it. Anyway all in all I feel like smaller boats get to see MORE nature and yes... *Good Times!*
When I was little, my father used to take us out fishing on his small sailboat (minus the sails), that he bought used for our summer vacations in a small rented bungalow near the beach. The boat was wooden and broad beamed, very seaworthy. He'd take us salt water fishing and in the afternoons when the waters got rough on the way home, he'd make me sit under the poop deck.....ahhh, good memories from many, many years ago, in my 60s now.
Our main thing was having a boat that didn't need a trailer. We go camping a lot in remote areas away from people, often on narrow dirt and mountain roads, so hauling a trailer is not doable. Whether we just had a shell on our 3/4 ton pickup or a slide in camper, a small aluminum boat or canoe was ideal, and light enough for us to lift, etc.
A workhorse nothing sexy about it's; just a beast.
I will add some of the other vessels I crew on, in a few; most of em are privately owned vessel's so I'll ask, before uploading.
Trailers... oh boy, I love watching stupid people fail at the community/beach boat launch. Sometimes you just want to slap em upside the head yelling "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING??" Another bonus is in a survival situation as well, because it's compact and can be in an emergency used instantly.
Great photo Captain, VERY impressive, must be a pleasure to go out on. LOL, I know what you mean about trailer folks who don't know what they're doing, saw more than our share of them over the years. :)
Thanks BigFoot. It's a lot of shining to get the brass like that believe me! Lots of buffing.
As an add to the trailer stuff...The things I see are failure of proper understanding of timing and that leads too... people chasing after their boats! Another is those who don't check the current in the water, BEFORE backing their boat down the boat ramp. In turn their boat is now sailing/cruising 5-8 knots with out the boat owner/passengers. They stand there at the ramp with this dumb look on their faces. "Like oh gee... wait what??"
As for the video...
WoW that was amazing.. I loved the beginning with horses laughing!
That's what I do, when I see idiot boaters, the worst are the ones who don't just
let it go and ASK for HELP.
