    Thought's on Lenovo's ThinkPads?

    Hi,

I'm looking at getting a new 14 inch notebook, and outside of hoping MS releases an updated Surface Book Pro (Pro 2), I'm pretty much sold on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga. This is a gen 2 model I customized...

Processor: Intel i7-7600U (4B Cache, up to 3.9GHz
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro X64
    Display: 14.0 Inch WQHD (2560 x 1440) OLED Touch. 300 nits
    Memory: 16GB LPDDR3 1866
    • Graphics: Intel Graphics HD 620
    • Keyboard: Thinkpad Backlit, with Fingerprint reader
    • Camera: 720p HD camera with MIC
    • Thinkpad Pen: Thinkpad Pen Pro – 6.5mm
Hard drive: 1TB SSD drive, PCIe NVMe
    • Battery: 4-Cell Li-Polymer 56Wh
Wireless: Intel Dual Band Wireless AC (2x2) 8265. Bluetooth 4.1, vPro
    • Connectivity:
    o 2 Intel® Thunderbolt™ 3
    o 3 USB 3.0
    o HDMI
    o Mini-RJ45
    o MicroSD
    o MicroSIM

This is I'm not all that familiar with Lenovo other than they were IBM, and are said to be good business laptops.

    Thoughts?

Put it this way I have 5 IBM Thinkpads going back to a butterfly keyboard.

Only 4 Lenovo's about all I miss is the pointy stick thing.

I5 and I7's for Lenovo, no problem with any of them.

Keyboard I love the typing used to IBM style keyboards and the feel of them.

Facial recognition and fingerprint recognition - no problem.

    Best I can offer.

    Thanks.

Anyone have to deal with tech support? How are they?

Tech support rocks for the ThinkPad Line. Had some issues back on 2010 when I was a college student with a new T410. My keyboard failed and after I troubleshooted and told the support guy all I did and said it was critical to have my laptop for classes they had a guy drive from the Depo in Sacramento all the way to my house 8 hours away to hand deliver a new keyboard so I would have it for classes the next morning. THAT is customer service. I have 5 IBM and 4 Lenovo Thinkpads now.

It certainly is hard to believe customer service support.

    Thanks.

Disclaimer though, that was seven years ago. And I have bought used Thinkpads since. I haven't had any warranty to use and get support from since 2012.

To be clear, I certainly didn't perceive that to be normal everyday customer service. I'm thinking it was a once in a lifetime deed that probably benefited them more than you. I don't see many customer service agents or companies, driving 8 hours just to hand deliver an item a customer. No disputing it didn't happen for you, but...

About the only warranty work done with Thinkpad was on my 701. A battery failure.
Believe that's the model with butterfly keyboard.

They didn't ask questions, just cross shipped new battery to me.

Lenovo V line I5 2nd generation. Within the first year, cross shipped battery again.

1-2 day turnaround on both, via FedEx. There's a reason I keep buying the things.

All still work including the Win3.0 version, still programming Logging milling machine.

I wish other companies would support their products like Lenovo or IBM.
