Indy 500 Monday. I remember when Indy was the pinnacle. Mario, Al, AJ, etc. It was a must see. Maybe it's just me, but haven't even watched for years.

Not sure about the Indy Series but with a lot of the Open Wheels racing these days it appears that the "racing" is done more in the pit than on the track,or even in the manufacturing plant. there's very little actual racing in the F1 and related series. I much prefer the Stock cars, (Touring Cars where the track turns right and left, rather than Nascar where they all turn one way :) ). There are real races and race craft involved and just to mix things up some races the start positions are the reverse of the finishing positions of the last race, And the first few cars in a race also carry additional weight to make things interesting :)
On the subject of Oval racing a friend bought a second hand Mini Cooper a few years ago (a real one not the Huge German Monstrosity), and we couldn't work out why It kept wandering to the one side, until we realised that the car was once used for short track oval racing and had different length Track rods and other suspension mods on one side to "Enhance" it's turning performance ( AKA Cheat ) :)
Thanks Keith, I like it
Hello Nigel That's the thing about NASCAR here. Basically big engine, no brakes, and go. Sure they have telemetry and such, but it's more about the driver. A Guy
