It's old and slow :)
The Dell tech called me back about 10 minutes after we got off the phone. Said something rang a bell. Remembered I said the install could not even see the SSD. Started to walk me thru getting drivers, I said I already DL'd everything last week. Told me which one was missing. I extracted it to a folder and put the folder on the Install thumb. During install, @ where to install, still didn't see the SSD. Opened the folder on the thumb and pointed it to the driver. Took a minute or so, then it refreshed and voila!, there was the SSD! Carved out a small partition and installed to it. Went smooth-smooth-smooth! All restarts were happy, and all proper boot entries are where they should be! Now running a soon to expire 16170, but who cares!!! :)
The BIOS settings are factory, did not need to change anything.
Steve, your hunch about the F6FLPY thingie was right, but it's called this. A pic of the install point where I loaded the driver.....
I'm now a much happier camper!!!!!
Fantabulous, TC! I'm glad you got hold of the right tech! Because without him . . .

Thanks, Mike! Funny, I knock the Dell support, but this guy, from Costa Rica (wellllllllllll over the Wall), took the time to call me back, even though he was off the clock. Said he was heading out when he remembered something, came back in and called me. Ticket is still open. He wants engineering to see the results.
Kinda renews your faith in support personnel, doesn't it, TC.
Good morning/afternoon/evening folks. How is everyone?
It’s a cloudy, grey 19°F/-7°C. Warming to 21°F/-6°C today. Duplicate of yesterday. We had a couple more of inches of snow last night.
I see the East Coast is getting hammered. Hope y'all...
