Anyone Using More Private Search Engines like Startpage?

I heard about Startpage, used to be IXquick, and have tried it a couple of times, the search results aren't as great as Google, IMO. But, these search engines are supposed to mask your IP address.

I'm not doing anything secretive, but I think Google is invasive as far as privacy. Anyone use these search engines regularly? Do you use their email servers? Are you happy with them or find them to be under-performing?

I find them to be slow, probably from tracking filters.
Most of them are powered by Google anyway.

I use Startpage. It uses google, but due to being private, you do not see personalized results, that is the reason, why they are not so accurate. Check video for explanation.

That is, why they are slow. Private search engines usually use different search engines, then filter them out via proxy and such to avoid being tracked. You can try duckduckgo, which is faster.
