not all of the speakers.
I had Fox on while watching the race and it came in great in 7.1.
Playing music thru ROKU on Pandora is 7.1.
This is with a LG LW6500 TV and the new Yamaha RX-V779.

Depends on whether there is a dolby digital signal. Not all channels have them. Sometimes some shows do, some don't. Sometimes shows don't, but commercials do, and visa versa. All DVDs should.
