Good afternoon everybody had a good day in the bees made up 57 new colonies in one yard with two hives to split in that yard only 40 more splits to make.:)
Hi, beeman. You were busy today. Splitting hives....???? Is that like cells dividing to make 2, then 4, then 8, etc. Not joking, really. Just curious.
A hive usually has 4 to 6 boxes stacked with 9 to 10 frames of bees brood and honey in each box. I will take bees brood and honey frames and put 5 frames in one 5 frame box and carte it off to another yard for them to raise a new queen that is what I call a split. I made two to four spits from one hive in this yard.
