Definitely, that's the best way, just be glad it's not our Sooty he'd be more inclined to claw you awake to get your attention.

Willow is the same, even when she's playing she keeps her claws in and if she bites it's just really a gentle tasting and she doesn't actual bite, she is very gentle. Sooty used to be ok till we lost Lynx and he changed and is very unpredictable now. He can be nice and calm one minute then attack for no particular reason, trouble is John takes blood thinners and he's usually the one that gets shredded,
Sooty is 15 now and we've had him since he was 5 months old and he's a big cat, Willow is 5 and only a small dainty cat. :)
