    That would look nice Steph!
Just a bit impractical moving large things between floors, like a couch or desk:)

If you have to go up there more than once a month, don't do it or at least go to showroom and try it first carrying a full glass of water. with only socks on your feet.

If I may > They look nice and are a geometrical wonder, but I’d advise to avoid at all cost. If at all possible you’re better off having a narrow (24 or 18-inch/61 or 46-cm) traditional staircase with what are called winders built along some walls instead. Most likely would cost less also. A person only uses 18 inches/46 centimeters for walking. The reason why stairs and halls are double that is so 2 people can pass each other.

Yes, one needs another means to do so. Usually a large window or patio/deck door to pass items up through, but if I remember correctly she showed a view out her window once in a post, which I think was on the 2nd floor, so the loft would be on the 3rd floor. That would be a bear.

Good advice, Mike. You have building experience I know. It’s not so much walking up a spiral that’s a problem, it’s coming down that is. Most certainly slippery socks are not recommended!

As you can well see, I took the liberty to give her advice anyway.

Coming down is not a problem either, it's good chance somebody would come down head over heals, landing at the bottom.
I built a semi spiral set when I was 16 or 17 but had 4straigh, 6 round and another 4 straight but it was for a very small house at sea side. Didn't have much choice. I was considering it in this house to but instead built straight ones next to the wall and enclosed it to make locker under it.

Steph, my daughter just had a spiral staircase installed on an outside entry to her "room over the carport". It's OK, but I wouldn't like to go up and down it very much; it's just too cramped for me. Also, Gracie wants to poke her head through every rail all the way up! Yeah, until we moved here, that was our room when we visited. Spiral wasn't there until about three weeks ago.
