    New Lenovo

I just bought a new Lenovo PC to replace my 10 year old HP running Vista. I got the one w/the i5 processor, 8gb RAM and 1T hard drive. So far I'm very impressed with this machine which was recommended, set up and configured by a tech friend of mine. This baby will fly and seems to be very stable running Win 10. So does anyone have an opinion or information RE Lenovo?

A while back I bought a Lenovo "all-in-one" touch screen PC.
It was an inexpensive model but works quite well.
The design makes it easy to change storage devices.
    The touch features work effectively.

The device came with Windows 8.1.1 > I special ordered restore disks although unnecessary.
As a fan of build 9200, the Lenovo is compatible with 8.0

It stays in the closet as a backup device.

Just a note, the Lenovo computers were the former IBM consumer machines, spun off from IBM some time after IBM spun off their Hard Disk Drives to Hitachi [which probably made them anyway] and now I guess Hitachi drives are known as HGST.

I have a 1tb toshiba HDD in mine, see specs. Picked it up back before the holidays and I like it, though it is taking some time to get used to win10.

The place where I got it OfficeDepot/max still has it up. It was on sale for $399 and I got the 2year protection plan for only $70, selling point for me was it came with an optical drive.

@Fred If you have an onboard optical drive but can't get it to work there is an easy registry change to get it working. In my case there were no yellow flags in device manager everything relating to the drive said "this device is working properly", drivers were good, etc....
I found a site that said to check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi in the registry and I had to create a sub-key Controller0 then a new value for it EnumDevice1 and set the value to 1 .

See Resolution 6 here: Your CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs

I was very happy with the Lenovo I use to have. In it's day, it definitely was a workhorse. I'm not sure if it came with Windows 7 or if I upgraded to 7. When I got ready to upgrade to my now deceased HP Envy I gave it to my son.
