    Yeah, they kinda stuck them at the bottom as "also rans". Editorial freedom, I suppose. Just thought it was kinda funny how MS based it's claims on one small part. And these "lists" are somewhat subjective. So they have a bigger list....whoopee!
    I read the article with a jaundiced eye based on your and Keith's comments, TC. What I saw was that each time HTG noted a minus in Firefox, they added a plus too; Mozilla is working on Electrolysis, FF has better privacy built in, and is on track to catch up with both Edge and Chrome in 2017.

    HTG also mentioned that a smart browser still isn't enough; they even touted Malwarebytes in addition to the browser, and I agree with that! What I didn't know is that when Malwarebytes (or any other AV) is installed, Windows Defender disables itself!

    All in all, I'm thinking that a combo of FF and MBAM should take care of my security issues and I don't have to get used to Chrome (ain't gonna use Edge until the asterisk thing is cured).

    Good afternoon/evening, fellow forumeers.

    Another cloudy, grey day here at 32°F/0°C. A few degrees more for our high. We had about a half inch of a snow dusting last night.

    How is everyone today?
    Afternoon HG.

    FF has been trying to do the sandboxing thing for ages. They won't be able to do it and maintain compatibility with the myriad extensions out there.

    Wynona, don't think that's true. At least MBAM & Defender can co-exist. I remember AVG & Defender always got into a cat fight, as do other AV's. Remember.....MBAM is not a true AV. It's not trying to do Defender's job, just the stuff Defender doesn't/can't do. That's my understanding.....and of course I'm never wrong!

    @Wynona or anyone interested.

    Hi, Wyn. I know you use Office a lot. Here's a nifty little add-in to save files on two different drives. This add-in is free but asks for donation.

    What exactly is it that Defender doesn't/can't do that MBAV can? Just asking for personal knowledge.

    Tony, that's up for a lot of debate, but basically MBAM is anti-malware and Defender is anti-virus. MBAM also does anti-exploit, anti-ransomware, and rogue bad-guy web site blocking. That's the 25 cent version.

    Simrick declares that Defender doesn't stop enough malware to be effective, Hippsie. She said MBAM wouldn't have let something or other in but we know that Defender let it in because it was there.
