Jack, if you can get your hands on a dead WIFI router, you can scavenge the antenna cable from inside. It should have the mini connector on one end and the antenna connector with the mounting nut on the other. Then screw it in the hole where the bulb was. I have a couple here and some spare antennas, if you interested. Free, you'll just have to drop by and pick one up.

EDIT, this is what I'm talking about, https://www.adafruit.com/products/851 Then you just connect one of these, https://www.adafruit.com/products/945 Any old dead WIFI router should have both, if somebody didn't already steal the antenna's.

Thanks for the offer, but ,I bought an anti and wire with it , 2 days after I bought it I found a wifi card with 2 anti on it but the cables are only about 2 inches long ,its from a small Acer tower ,i forgot I hade them ,I going to drill a hole in the back of the flashlight to mount it ...so far it going good ,cutting the holes for hdmi and ,usb ,and power plugs will be a challenge to get them nice and neat ,, the black part of the doesn't come apart,.. I still haven't tried it to see if it works ,the header wasn't soldered on ,my choice,, if I want to put it in the flash light I will have to solder it right to the PIZeros header

I got both parts that you show in the adafruit links for $8.90
    wifi card was $12.90

it came from China in 8 days .6.00$ shipping
    total was 27.80$

Ok, your all set antenna wise then. Once you solder them together there is no going back after that. I wouldn't want to try and unsolder 20 pins. I still think its the way to go for that project though. Just take your time so you don't short any pins together. Use nice fine thin solder and a small fine tip on your iron.

thanks for the tips , I actually already unsoldered a set (a tall pin set )from the pizero I'm using in this project ,I used a solder sucker to get solder out of the holes ,lol, it was easy or pretty but pi still works

You could have just soldered to those, leaving them stick way out of the top of the WIFI card. Then just snip the excess off with wire cutters. For next time,

yeah,i did that awhile back before I came across the wifi hat,,seems to me I did cut the tops off and they kind of came apart ,like they frayed apart or something ,I don't know ,, but I'm having fun ,,,,right . lol

having issues making it fit into the old flashlight ,I put the antenna at the rear but cable stops me from pushing the flashlite back all the way into the case ..time to stop and think of another way ,,maybe put the antni in the front where the light was

Where the bulb used to be is where I would have tried to fit it.

My Pimoroni order should arrive any day now. That will get me going again with a few projects, and upgrades to existing projects. It will be fun to fire up my soldering iron again and get a screw driver out. I'll have some Python code to edit and redo too.
Yeah, Jacks repurposed flashlight case is a pretty neat idea.

I tried removing/prying with a knife blade the plastic from in front of the bulb ,but no go with out breaking it , so I will try drilling a hole in it maybe ,, I also need to get out my soldering iron and do the pins on the pizero first then decide if I want to solder the wifi directly to the zero's pins ,I'm almost sure that what I will do ,, ,
