sounds really nice , I will be replacing the tub with a shower stall ,a cheap one ...She doesn't use the tub now
anyway ,just the shower par of it ..
Yeah, we wanted something with no step to have to step over. Add a nice wide flat surface to stand on. Getting a stall also meant being able to have sliding doors instead of curtains. Our stall also has a molded seat at the back. We got the narrow stall because of the space we had. I think it was 48 inches wide instead of 64. The seat is actually close enough to the shower head you could sit on it and still get your shower. I think my wife's done that once or twice. I put a water safe LED pot light right in the stall in the top pointing down. Ours was three piece. The top and middle fit through the door but the base wouldn't. Not without cracking or breaking it. We ended up cutting about 6 inches out of one side of the door frame. Even the sectioned ones are meant to be put in while the house is being built. Before you frame the door lol.

Not sure if this is more economical but there is a service that you can get to cut your tub and convert it to regular shower stall.

That's another way to do it on a budget. We would have had to do the back splash etc anyway. Bathroom was long overdue to be refinished/refurbished.

That is an option for sure ,but not in my case ,the home is our family home .and I was about 10 or 11 when the tub was installed and i'm 64 1/2 now ,and it been leaking around the tub for years and the floor under it is nasty ,but I stopped it from leaking in the past 5 yrs ..so its good until early next year ...My 58 yr old sister on Social Assistance because of a birth defect lives in the house ,so we just do a bit at a time ..

But for my own 22 year old full tub/shower surround ,it might be a cheap option for us . ,ill have to check for local company and get a price

I was looking for some momentary switch, LEDs and jumper wires on Amazon and I ended up with this kit (see link).
Can I use the power supply module on this kit to power up the pi and peripherals?

Use the 5V side, and if it will supply enough current yes. It's meant to plug into the breadboard and give you 5V and 3.3V for what ever your connecting "to" your Pi. Does it come with the actual power pack to plug into the barrel connector? I didn't see that in the picture? I can't tell from the picture, but if that USB jack is a power out jack, that's where I would connect the Pi. Looks like a nice bit of kit for that price. You'll learn some electronics, and how to code GPIO with that.

So I got one of the Google AIY Voice kits. The cardboard enclosure is both ingenious and diabolical at the same time. It's cool how it is folded into an enclosure and I'm sure it keeps the kit's cost low but it is a real PITA too. After mine was first assembled and I booted it up, the audio didn't work. It was a major hassle to take the thing apart again in order to fix the speaker connection wire that had come loose during assembly. This time, I tested everything BEFORE putting it in the box and it worked perfectly.

I then assembled it back into the enclosure and now it won't boot! It looks like the SD card got corrupted so I believe I only need to re-write the SD card.

The instructions for getting the software working aren't great either. The website for Google Cloud and the APIs needed has been changed and doesn't match the instructions. Took lots of clicking around and guessing to finally get things setup.

@caperjack - You posted awhile back that you had one of the kits. Did you have any issues getting it working?

@strollin , I don't have an AIY kit but I follow this guy for anything Google Assistant and he is very helpful.

And here's my project. Still a work in progress..

    @alphanumeric
This guy's Google Assistant can also play internet radio now and songs from youtube. And also controls servo, etc. All by voice command.
He is very helpful too if you got stuck somewhere.

I am still working on his latest work to shutdown the pu by voice command.

The good thing about this google assistant project is that you can still use the Raspbian desktop for other projects.

Tried to re-write the SD card being used with my Google Assistant kit but it apparently simply failed as I am not able to re-write it or format it in any manner.
