interesting ,I'm going to install new Raspbian image ,and start over with mine ,and try the one line installer and vlc radio ,soon, right now I have a new bigger air conditioner to install, new bathroom exhaust fan to put in ,and the new ones are not the same size as my 22 year old one ,so work require to make it fit ,and replace a ripped screen in grandma's front door ,so it will be Sunday before I play with Pi stuff

Back at my pHat Beat, what ever was making the LED come on is fixed. Anyway, I did the getting started and ran the one line installer. I think it installed some stuff not installed by the dashboard? Samples etc. I think anyway, should have paid more attention I guess? Did the speaker test and got the right front, left front, and the VU meter. Volume up down buttons didn't work, not sure if they are supposed too with that test. Moved on to the Internet radio stuff and installed vlc radio stuff. Just rebooted and the volume up down now work. Lots of skips during bot up, but I'm running full Raspbian, loading the desktop is what caused it. I'll set it to boot to command line and see how that works. Sound isn't too bad from the speakers I have. I went with stereo. I had two speakers I took out of a dead TV. Now all I have to do is find a classic rock station and add it.

I just recently replaced the exhaust fan in the masters bedroom. Wow, what a relief. So quiet you hardly notice it's on.

I created a new playlist.m3u and saved it to the root of the boot partition. The partition that shows if you plug your SD card in your windows PC. It read and used it. Just rebooted to command line and the pirate radio didn't start? Switched back to Desktop and it ran? Will have to sort that out at some point. I've had enough for now and I'm going to take a break. I'm going to add a few more stations too. This is what I followed to get the stations I wanted. http://forums.pimoroni.com/t/pirate-...rthless/4823/2 I couldn't get it to download the m3u file from shoutcast though, I did the xspf file instead and was able to find the http etc when I opened it with notepad.

Its starting up now if I boot to command line, don't know why it didn't the first time I tried it. I went to edit my playlist file and it was MIA? Found it with a search though. In a different folder. Edited it then it wouldn't let me save the edited file. . I saved it as a txt file, deleted the m3u file, then renamed the playlist.txt as playlist.m3u. I'm listening to it now on my deck. Took me a while to find the shutdown button. Kind of hidden on the end. Not bad sound, better than what my laptop puts out. Well louder anyway, lol.

A big thanks again to Jack for buying two pHat Beats, and selling me one. It's a nice bit of kit.

FYI post, the first entry in your playlist.m3u file is the default station that plays on start up. You guys likely already knew that, this Internet Radio NOOB didn't. I'll be editing mine at some point, my preferred station isn't the first entry. A case for this is next I think.
