My wife gave me an early Christmas gift. Got a deal on a 24" monitor with HDMI so I can run my pi. I'll be on here a lot now learning from y'all.

to the The more the merrier. What model Pi are you using? It's obvious your running Raspbian, I'm guessing its not Pixel though? Probably Jessie? Have you got something in mind you'd like to do with it?

It's a 2B. I'm running the Noobs from end of last year? It's when I set it up for my little brother last Christmas. I don't have internet at my house. I run off of Hotspotting my phone to everything. I want to learn to code. I'm an IT professional and coding is my weakness. Would love to learn a foundation and expand on that.

NOOBS isn't an OS. Its an installer/boot loader, it will install an OS, your choice, on first boot. From the screen shoot it looks like Raspbian was the choice.
Everything I have done, coding wise, has been in Python. I would class myself as average, skill wise.
The Pi forum has a programing section, https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/ I go by the same username there as I do here, alphanumeric.
Adafruit and Pimoroni also have a learning section and forums.

Forgot to mention, Raspbian is my OS of choice, manly because its the Pi foundations recommended OS, and most of the tutorials for the hardware I us, is based on it.
KODI is my other system for my media center Pi.

If you open up a terminal windows, and then run sudo apt-get update, followed by sudo apt-get upgrade, that should get you the latest version of Raspbian Pixel. Or, next ime your at an Internat café etc, go here and download an image.

I shared my wifi connection through ethernet to the pi. Figured updating would use less data than a fresh install. It's working on it now. Thanks for the commands.

just a note on NOOBS ,if when running noobs you first connect the pi to the internet you will get multiple choices of OS's and if you check off 1-2-3[or more even ,depending on the size of the sdcard ] of them it will install all 3,and you then get a choice on bootup of the one you want to use , I just setup a new sdcard a few hrs ago and install raspbian ,osmc [kodi] RISC OS, just to have a look
